Sure thing, let’s dive into this. So, Bloober Team and their games—man, these folks know how to make stuff look good. Like, visually, their horror games are top-notch. But, if you’ve been hoping for more action, well, besides maybe that Silent Hill 2 Remake they did, you’ve been out of luck. Until now, I guess.
Anyway, Cronos: The New Dawn, it’s something else. Perfect for those of us who aren’t big fans of just running and hiding from creepy things. I mean, let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to just smack a monster every now and then instead of only cowering behind boxes?
So, this game’s been buzzing in the action-horror community ever since it popped up on the scene. And why? ‘Cause its combat style is unique. At first glimpse, you’d think you’re looking at something straight out of Dead Space, but nope—this one’s got its own twist.
Okay, get this: in combat, enemies can merge. So, these bad guys combine and evolve right in front of your eyes. Wild huh? Imagine you’re mid-battle and suddenly everything shifts—talk about fighting on your toes, right? It adds this whole layer of strategy because you have to pick your battle spots carefully.
One of the craziest things I saw in a gameplay video (check it out if you haven’t) is that the enemies can absorb dead bodies. I know, gross, right? But they get more health and new attacks. So, you end up trying to pull them away from those potential power-ups like some twisted game of tag.
Now, don’t think you’ll be going in there with unlimited ammo or anything. The Cronos team mentioned something about resource scarcity. So, yeah, plan your moves. It’s not some mindless hack-and-slash.
Earlier this year, I chatted with the directors. They’ve been all about tackling a more action-focused path while not losing that horror vibe they’re known for. Seems like a pretty bold move.
Oh, and about when you can play it—ain’t out yet. Fall release, they say. Keep your eyes peeled if you’re on PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X/S. Let’s just hope they stick to that timeline, yeah? Anyway, that’s about all I got.
