It looks like NVIDIA and AMD are gearing up for a showdown in the budget GPU market this May, and it’s going to be quite a spectacle.
## Aiming for the Mid-Range Market: NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 and AMD’s RX 9060 XT
For those in the market for affordable GPUs, the options have been pretty limited recently. NVIDIA’s latest models have been scarce, driving prices well above their suggested retail value. Meanwhile, AMD’s RX 9070 series is in such high demand that scoring one at retail price is quite a challenge. However, it seems both companies are about to roll out new cards for mainstream consumers. According to Benchlife, we can expect releases from NVIDIA and AMD as soon as next month.
Starting with NVIDIA, also known as Team Green, they’re reportedly planning to launch the GeForce RTX 5060 on May 19. This card is expected to feature an 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM setup, running at 28 Gbps via a 128-bit memory bus. Additionally, it will consume more power compared to the RTX 4060, with an increase of 35 watts in terms of total design power. Here’s a quick rundown of how the RTX 5060 stacks up against its predecessor:
– 25% more CUDA cores
– Same memory capacity
– Faster GDDR7 memory at 28 Gbps
– Increased bandwidth by 64%
– 30% higher power rating
On AMD’s side, the Radeon RX 9060 XT is anticipated to make its debut on May 21 at Computex, although it might hit the shelves in June. This GPU will boast the Navi 44 die on a 128-bit bus, available in 8GB and 16GB variants, comparable to NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti. The RX 9060 XT is expected to include 2,048 stream processors, which is half of what the RX 9070 XT offers. With game clocks set at 2620 MHz and boost clocks at 3230 MHz, you can expect solid performance for 1080p and 2K gaming.
We’ll be bringing you live coverage from the Computex 2025 show floor, where we’ll have the chance to sneak a peek at these new offerings. The competition in the mid-range GPU sector is definitely intensifying, and May is set to be quite an eventful month.
