Oh boy, can we talk about Microsoft and their PC gaming plans for a second? It’s like they’re on a mission or something. So, Xbox Insiders on Windows 11 can now try out this new store mash-up thing. Sounds fancy, right?
Anyway, they dropped a blog post (because, of course), saying Xbox Insiders will get a fresh Xbox PC app soon. It’s supposed to blend all these different PC game stores. They kinda left us hanging on which ones, though. Like, Steam? Is it in or out? No clue yet, but we’ll figure it out soon, I guess.
Oh, and if you’re curious, you can check it out for free on your PC. Just hop onto the Xbox Insider app on Windows 11, and boom, you’re in the PC Gaming Preview. Easy peasy.
So here’s the deal. The app will magically detect games you’ve got from other places and stash them in your Xbox PC library. For now, it seems only Battle.net is in the mix, but they promise more stores later. Fingers crossed for Steam, am I right?
There’s this image of the Xbox Ally—it’s gonna have this feature when it launches. Looks neat, I suppose.
And, oh! If this whole integration thing isn’t your jam, you can turn it off in settings. So, when it’s running, your library’s gonna auto-update with those games, showing them on the sidebar in your recent plays. A bit easier for bouncing between games and launchers, I think? Although, if you still have to load the launcher… Meh, not a huge change, honestly. But hey, it’s a dream for those who like using controllers—it’s perfect for the Xbox Ally’s debut.
Microsoft’s throwing a bunch of stuff into this Xbox-PC crossover. They’re promising controller-friendly Windows features too. Just in time for the holiday season? Maybe. We’ll see!
