Okay, so there’s this app called Open Brush, right? It’s kinda like the reincarnation of Google’s Tilt Brush, which, honestly, was the cool kid on the block back in 2016. But Google decided to pull the plug in 2021. Why? I have no clue. Maybe they got bored. Anyway, Open Brush popped up to fill that void.
So, fast forward to now, and bam, they’ve added this multiplayer thingy. You can jump in with your VR headset and paint the digital town red…or green…or whatever. The folks at The Icosa Foundation, bless them, pushed this update out to everyone. Grab your Quest or SteamVR, because it’s live on all the devices.
And here’s the kicker: you and your pals can sketch together like you’re in a virtual artsy café. You can chat, doodle, or maybe even argue over the best shade of blue. Ah, the possibilities. For now, there are just the basic painting tools in this mode. But guess what? More goodies are coming. Soon, room owners can be the boss, muting or even kicking people out like a true art class dictator.
And it’s cross-platform, folks! Quest or SteamVR, doesn’t matter, you’re in.
Mike Nisbet from Icosa summed it up nicely. “We want creativity to be free and fun,” he said. Yeah, he nailed it.
Tilt Brush used to be THE app everyone loved. Big on PC VR headsets. Then Google decided, “Hey, let’s make Tilt Brush open source.” So now, different studios are playing around with it, like kids with a new toy. Open Brush is just one among many, like SideSketch or MetaBrush. But now, with multiplayer being a core feature? Well, Open Brush is kind of the big deal. You want features and support? It’s got your back.
So, I guess that’s where it stands. Artists of the virtual world, unite! Or, you know, just doodle together.
