NetEase Games has set the stage for an exciting addition to Marvel Rivals, with the launch of a fresh game mode dubbed Giant-Size Brain Blast, set to drop on April 25. This comes on the heels of the release of Season 2 for this well-loved hero shooter, which also welcomed the arrival of Vanguard Emma Frost to its ever-expanding lineup of characters. Fans can also look forward to the entrance of the notorious villain Ultron, who, according to the latest updates, will be making a splash in the upcoming major 2.5 update.
However, not everything has been smooth sailing for NetEase. The company recently found itself at the center of a fan uproar over the introduction of costume customization in Marvel Rivals. Initially, this feature intrigued players, but enthusiasm waned when they discovered it came with a price tag and introduced a new currency into the mix. Unlike previous options that could be purchased with units, these customizations require 600 Unstable Molecules. Currently, the only way to get your hands on these Molecules is through Lattice, the game’s premium currency, driving the cost of each customization to about $6.
Aside from these developments, NetEase Games is gearing up to dazzle fans with a unique twist in the form of the Giant-Size Brain Blast mode. The teaser offers a whimsical view, beginning with Captain America adopting an amusing bobble-head look. Following suit, Spider-Man, Loki, Moon Knight, and Venom are also shown with oversized heads, much to the audience’s amusement. This hilarious transformation accompanies the usual intense gameplay, adding a layer of humor with cartoonish animations that promise to tickle the funny bone.
Starting April 25, gamers plunging into this playful mode will have the opportunity to snag exclusive event titles and a new emote. While it’s unclear when this special mode will draw to a close, players can dive right in on the launch day. What sets this apart from previous modes is its distinctive nature, where the standout feature appears to be purely visual, unlike modes like Clone Rumble, which focused more heavily on strategic gameplay elements.
As if the new mode wasn’t enough excitement, April 24 will usher in even more reasons for players to log in. At 7 PM PDT, gamers can pick up new skins for Loki and Hela, inspired by the scenic Kirisaki Mountain. These new looks feature traditional Japanese attire, awash in a striking white and green palette. With such vibrant content releases and further updates on the horizon, the community is abuzz with optimism about the bright future awaiting Marvel Rivals.
