Oh boy, where do I even begin with this one? So XR Games just threw down the gauntlet with their new rhythm game, BEATABLE. It’s out of the early access crib, finally walking on its own, hopefully not tripping over itself. And lemme tell you, this thing has got some cool new tricks up its sleeve. Like, you know those moments where you’re just tapping everything in reach when you hear a sick beat? No? Just me? Anyway, this game lets you do just that — slap your desk to keep up with the music. Yep, no need for clunky controllers. Just your Quest 2, your hands, and probably a sturdy table (unless you’re cool with cracks).
Jumping straight out of early access, this baby’s got an upgrade. I remember when it dropped a handful of songs back in April — just five of them, but hey, gotta start somewhere, right? Now it’s like, “Listen up world, I’ve got an update and I’m not afraid to show it.”
Yeah, there’s this whole new shebang with a song and map editor — basically, you can cook up your own masterpieces and challenge your mates. And trust me, that’s as wild as it sounds. I had a go with it and thought I was Mozart for a hot second. Oh, and speaking of tracks, they cranked it up to 24. You can jam out to it on Spotify, if that’s your thing. It’s got some bangers from Kudo Haruka, even a heavy hitter from some dude, Mikee Goodman, who apparently shredded in SikTh. Never heard of ’em? Neither had I until now.
Earlier this year, I took a swing at the game — the precision was kinda dodgy then. I mean, I think I spent half the time figuring out if I was the problem or the game was. But now, XR Games swears they’ve tweaked it so every beat’s tight as a drum. Plus they’ve snazzed up the visuals. Pretty neat, huh?
And don’t get me started on the price — ten bucks. Ten. That’s like two coffees, so honestly, no complaints here. It’s sitting pretty over at the Horizon Store waiting for adventurous souls with Quest 2s. Go smack some beats, or, you know, their virtual representation or whatever.
