Okay, so here’s the thing – people are getting all antsy about these Switch 2 consoles. You know, the new Nintendo ones with Mario Kart World (which everybody and their uncle has been waiting for). Anyway, some folks – like a lot of them, apparently – got their shiny new toys in boxes that looked, well, tampered with.
I dived into some Reddit rabbit holes—yikes, it’s like a digital soap opera over there. Tons of people whining about broken seals, especially from shops in the UK like Currys, Argos, and even good ol’ John Lewis. Imagine the shock – you expect a sealed box and get something that looks like it’s been rummaged through.
Get this: one dude on Reddit (let’s call him Argos Anon) was told by store staff that Nintendo’s seals are just weak sauce and break easily if you glare at them too hard or something like that. But then, there are these sleuths who swear the seals were sliced perfectly, like with precision tools. Hmm, sketchy.
Over at Currys, another customer griped about getting a box that was officially opened. They wanted to ensure the Mario Kart code was in there, they said – like Christmas morning but with more suspicion and less eggnog. Some boxes even had little "examined" stickers, which, let’s face it, screams "We totally peeked!"
Italy didn’t escape this chaos either. Someone bought theirs from Unieuro, and – shocker – every single box in the store was open already. Seriously, there’s never a dull moment with this launch!
Nintendo? Oh, they’re mum so far. No epic press releases about rogue seals. But people are freaking out a little bit less because, thankfully, no one’s found rocks where their console should be. Yet.
And if you thought this was Nintendo’s first rodeo with drama, think again. Over in the U.S., GameStop had its own PR hiccup. Imagine buying a console and finding it had been artfully stapled through its delicate cardboard, scratching the screen! People were either shaking fists at GameStop or wagging fingers at Nintendo for not bubble-wrapping the heck out of those things.
So yeah, the console’s out but the saga continues. Guess we’ll just sit back, grab some popcorn, and see how they patch this one up—or should I say, seal it up?
