Final Fantasy Tactics fans, gather around ’cause I gotta tell you about this Collector’s Box they’re doing. But, wait for it… it doesn’t even come with the freakin’ game! Yeah, you gotta buy that separately. A bit of a brain-boggler, right?
Picture this: one day, I’m just scrolling through the latest announcements from the PlayStation June 4 State of Play — expecting nothing crazy — and bam! Two versions of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles pop up. We’ve got the Classic version, which kind of sticks to the original vibe but with a few tweaks, and then the Enhanced version with remastered everything and full-on voiceovers. Both come with the game copy, but hold your chocobos! If you want the Collector’s Box goodies, you gotta fork over extra cash for the actual game too. 🤯
This Collector’s Box thing didn’t even show up during the State of Play. Nope. It snuck into the Square Enix store later, flaunting a $200 price tag. What do you get in it? Eh, just a Ramza Beoulve figurine, some art cards, and, oh, three Chocobo plushes. But no game. Like, seriously, would it have been so hard to include it? I remember hearing about some other game doing this with a SteelBook case and also no game disc, so guess it’s not a first, but it still stings, ya know?
So here’s the deal — this box includes a special art box, the Ramza figure, Chocobo plush set (a Black one and a Red one too!), 12 Zodiac Stone acrylic magnets, some pop-up art, and these art sheets. Kinda artsy, kinda collectible. But, yeah, game not included, which is weird… or maybe genius? I dunno.
Some folks thought they could snag a bundle with the game included, but turns out, no dice. Already sold out! Even if they decide to re-release, it’s a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Meanwhile, I’m waiting on more news, maybe during the Summer Game Fest on June 6. And hey, for those itching just for the game, pre-orders are still on — digital or physical, your pick.
Oh, and a quick side note: there’s talk about this fancy Astro Bot DualSense controller making a comeback in 2025. Could be another collector’s item to keep your eyes peeled for.
Okay, that was a lot. But whether you’re a die-hard fan or just riding the hype train, there’s plenty of chaos to love in the world of Final Fantasy. Until next time, keep leveling up! 🎮
