Okay, so here’s the weird thing. Resolution Games, you know them if you’re into VR stuff, just threw out this sneaky peek of their new Dungeons & Dragons twist on Demeo. If you’re not into VR or tabletop gaming, you might be like, “What the heck?” But hang with me.
So, sometime back in January—they finally spilled the beans today—there was chatter about this mash-up with Hasbro’s Wizards of the Coast. And yeah, they showed us a little clip, like a teaser trailer you’d see at a movie theater. You get a glimpse of gameplay, settings, all that jazz. Pretty much, if you liked Demeo (and who wouldn’t? It’s chaotic fun), this looks similar, maybe a smidge better. Up to four players trying to outsmart these dungeon critters. I’m rambling. Let’s move on.
The game, if you haven’t played Demeo (what are you waiting for?), goes like this: it’s all about these quick, strategic battles. Turn-based, on grids—it’s like chess but with orcs and spells. You move around with action points. And the dice rolling? Oh man, one die to rule them all—wait, that’s a different franchise, ha. Anyway, the dice have faces: one sword for “Nice job, you hit,” double swords for a killer hit, and a skull for “Oops, you goofed!” The cards are your toolkit—actions, defenses, buffs, and stuff, all depending on your character class. So yeah, strategy galore.
What got me really jazzed, though—like, goosebumps jazzed—is that it’s coming out with VR and regular screen modes. So Steam, PlayStation 5, Quest 3/S, PSVR 2, all the good stuff. No one gets left out!
Oh, side note: Resolution Games dropped this little bomb (not literally) that they’ll release it in late 2025. They’re being cagey about the exact date, which is totally a tease, right? Also, more adventures in the works. They’re working with Matt Sernett—ring a bell? He’s done all sorts of D&D stuff, like Baldur’s Gate. Total legend.
For now, if you’re itching to dive into some VR fantasy land, you can wishlist the game on, I don’t know, every platform possible. Quest 3, PlayStation Store, Steam—you get it.
Did I cover everything? Probably not, but that’s life!
