The Steam page for Hollow Knight: Silksong just had a bit of a shuffle, and yes, as you’d guess, the fans are buzzing. I mean, it’s been what? Six years since the thing was announced? It’s like waiting for your favorite band to drop an album that keeps getting delayed. Almost feels personal at this point.
So, some people are betting their socks that this game might just pop out of nowhere during the Summer Game Fest — shadow dropping, they call it. Personally, I kinda dig the surprise move. Keeps things spicy! Then again, maybe they’ll just slap a release date on it and call it a day. Who knows? Maybe they don’t even know!
Oh, and remember how Team Cherry once told us we’d get our hands on it in 2023? Yeah, that… didn’t happen. Which, honestly, is kind of the vibe at this point. Radio silence for, like, a year after that. Matthew Griffin from their team said, “Hey, we’re working on it.” Thanks, Matty, but can we get a bit more?
Also, it’s kind of weird. Silksong didn’t pop up at Gamescom or Game Awards last year, and here we are, just crossing fingers that something good’s cooking behind the curtains as we head into this year’s sunny events.
And shoutout to Eurogamer and our fun Twitter pal, Wario64, for bringing some updates to light — with some little tweaks on Steam after a 15-month snooze fest. It’s almost like watching grass grow but with more pixels involved. This one Reddit user, TomNook5058 (cool name, right?), even confirmed that some version of it is floating around the Steam servers now. Could it mean a release date reveal at the Fest? Or maybe, just maybe, an epic drop when the new Nintendo Switch 2 lands? June 5 — mark it!
There’s that part where updates don’t always mean action, but when the files start shuffling right before the big reveal and console kick-offs, you can’t help but think something’s brewing. Maybe it’s nothing. Maybe it’s everything. Meanwhile, in Australia, a slice of Silksong will be playable over at ACMI’s Game Worlds. So, lucky Aussies.
By the way, Summer Game Fest — June 6 — has the lineup: Death Stranding 2, some feathery action with Wuchang, epic stuff with Chrono Odyssey, and hey, whispers of Resident Evil 9 being a show-stopper. Could be a wild ride.
So here we are, just fans in the wind, waiting for the next breadcrumb. Expecting the unexpected. Ain’t gaming just full of these delightful mysteries?
