In 2023, the data showed about 170,000 units being sold during the 30-day span around these shopping events. Fast forward to 2024, and sales dropped to approximately 146,000 units, marking a decline of 14%. It’s important to note that this figure might not reflect performance across all retailers.
It’s quite intriguing to see these numbers considering that Meta introduced its enhanced Quest 3S around this time. Not only that, but the price for the Quest 3 had been slashed, and they even released a major game featuring the iconic Batman: Arkham Shadow just in time for the shopping frenzy.
Now, let’s hop back to 2023 for a moment. During that festive period, the Quest 2, which was starting to show its age, was still on the shelves. The Black Friday deal for the 128GB model was particularly enticing: $250, but factor in a $50 gift card and it effectively cost just $200.
This previous offer seemed to capture more attention than what was on the table this year. In 2024, Meta pushed the new Quest 3S (128GB) at $300 with a $75 gift card, bringing the effective price down to $225.
The price difference isn’t significant, especially when considering the Quest 3S delivers better value for the extra $25. Yet, price alone isn’t the deciding factor.
