Silksong Can’t Top the Best Area from the Original

Team Cherry announced it forever ago, and now we’re allegedly on the brink of seeing it. Do we believe it? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, die-hard fans are vibrating with excitement. But some, the ever-skeptical bunch, are a bit wary. All this buzz could mean shattered dreams if the game doesn’t hit all the marks, right? I mean, we’ve built this indie game up to be, like, the second coming… or third? I’ve lost count.

Yet, from what we know, if Silksong does its thing, it’s not because Team Cherry took a nap. Nope. They’ve been hustling behind the scenes to expand the game way beyond what the original was. More side quests, a bigger world, all those nifty mechanics — they’re throwing in a whopping 150 new enemies. Talk about ambition! Still, one thing they’re unlikely to top from the OG is this little gem called the Colosseum of Fools.

And, wait — have you seen this crazy place in Kingdom’s Edge? It’s this eerie spot that looks like someone drained it of all color. The cliffs are ginormous — no joke! And it’s littered with bosses like Hornet Sentinel. Around the corner, there’s the City of Tears and The Hive. But the real star here has to be the Colosseum of Fools. Crazy name, right? Up top at Kingdom’s Edge, it’s like the place where wannabe warriors go to show off, battling in front of a crowd. Players face three gnarly challenges, each one tougher than the last. The Trial of the Fool? Forget it, some just can’t crack it. Those who rise to the challenge? They cash in big. Geo, baby!

But — and here’s the kicker — as if the place wasn’t spooky enough, the lore behind it is nuts. This is where the toughest bugs and beasts compete for glory. Most fail, though. Their remains get tossed down a chasm, like, no biggie.

Anyway, Sylksong’s realm of Pharloom probably won’t have anything paralleling this anomaly. Otherwise, it’d mess with the whole storyline, right? Supposedly, the Colosseum of Fools is top dog in terms of coliseums, so it’d be kind of a betrayal to suggest otherwise in the Hollow Knight universe.
