So, here I am, diving into another Toree game. Weirdly enough, this one’s called Toree Saturn — don’t ask me why cause, honestly, I haven’t a clue. Anyway, there’s this well, right? Full of creative juice, or whatever, but, yeah, sorta seems like it’s running dry. Sad times and all that.
So, Toree’s this bird — yellow, small, kinda Sonic-ish, if that makes any sense. Probably doesn’t. But bear with me. You know those early Sonic games? Toree’s giving off major throwback vibes. Seriously, it even has this zippy homing move. Anyway — wait, no — back to Toree. He’s dashing through these short, snappy levels like it’s nobody’s business. But like, are you in for a long haul? Nah, you can breeze through the whole thing in under an hour. Unless you flake out halfway and then, oops, start from scratch. Frustrating? Maybe. Or maybe it’s a genius way to keep us hooked.
Let’s talk visuals. It’s all late 90’s beauty with graphics that slap you in the face with nostalgia. On the Switch? Smooth sailing. Well, minus this one time it took forever to load. Thought my Switch had called it quits, but nope, just a hiccup.
Now, Toree Saturn’s not a bad game, not at all. Plays like a charm, sounds like one too. It’s just — is it bad that I want more? Like, dear developers, you can make magic. Why not go big and wild for once? Otherwise, it’s just more of the same. Not that it’s awful, but hey, a little surprise every now and then wouldn’t hurt.
